I hear a voice from down the hall
It’s whispering my name,
"Come back, come back", it calls to me,
"No one will know you came."
"Come back and be with me again,
It’s what you want to do;
Come back and let me hold you close
You know you want me, too!"
Tonight I’ll dream of wind and stars,
The cold crush of the storm,
I’ll hear it roaring in my sleep
And pray that I stay warm.
Tonight the crying of the wind,
The cold and bitter night,
Will haunt my dreams, if I can sleep,
Until the morning light.
At the edges of the evening
Where the day burns into night
All the colors born in heaven
Scatter in the dying light.
There, beneath the day’s last glory,
Worry melts into delight.
Within the dryad’s quiet wood,
There in her sheltered glade,
The pastel colors of the dawn
Still linger where they’ve played
Dancing on the breathless breeze
Beside the winter bay
Laughing at this earthbound world
Before they slip away.
I lingered at the ocean’s edge
As wave on sparkling wave rolled by.
Above the icy windswept beach
A bright reflection caught my eye;
The frosted foam of each wave crest
Was mirrored in the night black sky
