The wind was singing in the trees,
A soft and gentle song,
I could not help myself at all,
I had to sing along.
I heard rustling the trees,
And dancing with the lavender
That swayed in the soft breeze.
But, though its song has stilled,
I feel that same joy lingering
Within this heart it filled.
They tarry, sweet and bright.
Such as a breeze, dancing with joy,
That still brings me delight!
A new day is upon us now
The sun is up and dawnin’
Grab your coffee and rub your eyes
And quit your useless yawnin’
Stop all that delayin’,
Get out and make a difference
Start livin’, workin’, playin’!
In the shadow of the morning,
While the sky was still gray,
You turned your face away from earth
And God led you away.
Without your strength and love,
While heaven gains another voice
For her choir above.
We’re left without a choice,
And, though our weeping tears have dried,
We still long for your voice.
The moon smiles at his reflection
In the inlet below.
The air’s awash in sweet star songs,
Recalled from long ago.
Memories float across the night
Like breezes, soft and low,
Drifting in through the window screen
To settle like soft snow.
They whisper in her sleeping ear
Of those she used to know,
Reminding her they are still near,
And that they love her so.
She murmurs softly in her dream,
Asking them not to go,
But they can linger only as long
As the small stars still glow.
For, as it has forever done,
The night moves, hushed and slow,
Unwavering upon its path,
With memories in tow.
But, when she wakens in the dawn,
The new day all aglow,
Those memories will have left seeds
Of new joys yet to grow.
