Cold Nights and Frosted Colors

The cold night settles in once more,
Frosting window and leaf.
As if the world had lost its joy
And lingered in its grief.

The world feels emptier tonight
Than it did yesterday,
But a new day will soon arrive
And joy is on its way.

I’ll wait as the dark slips on by,
And keep watch for the dawn.
The cold night will give way to light
Though the frost lingers on.
