A Smile Is Enough

 

"Good night", she whispered to the moon,
hoping he'd whisper back.
Yet he just kept on moving on
along his normal track.
Then, just before he left her sight,
she thought she saw him smile.
It wasn't much, but still enough
to cheer her for a while.

They Still Remain

Fairy tales and mysteries
and songs my heart once knew,
The little things that filled my dreams,
like quiet seeds that grew.

Those days are past, but not all lost,
the memories remain
of fireflies, and summer grass,
and more sunshine than rain!

Just Passing Through

 

Scattered moments and little smiles
Nothing of great value.
They’re simply there to light my day
As they are passing through.
 
Blossoms busting forth in joy,
Bright colors on display.
It doesn’t really take a lot
To brighten up my day. 

I’m grateful, as the years roll on,
That I still find delight
In all the little things in life,
Bright colors, morning light.
 
The time will come when I have lost
Those smiles I watched pass through.
My memories will fade with time,
But for now, they will do.

I'll Go No More

 

The tide slips in so quietly,
and lingers on the shore.
It’s waiting for me to come down,
but down I'll go no more.
 
So, it will turn and drift away
and give back to the sea
all of the cold and salty tears
it once reserved for me.

A Long, Long Day

Today has been a bit too long,
Tonight's well underway
And I should be in bed by now...
There's no cause for delay.
 
Yet still I sit here quietly
And think back on this day.
I count my blessings gratefully,
Then wipe my tears away.
 
For there is nothing tears can fix,
And faith will lead me through
Whatever twists and turns still stand
Between my heart and You.
 
So I will rise and seek my rest,
Tomorrow's on it's way,
And I will face it joyfully
Despite this long, long day.
