The sun tapped on my bedroom sill,
"Get up, the day’s begun!"
But I rolled over in my bed
And just ignored the sun.
The swallows chirped on my back rail,
"Come out, come out and play!"
But this is my day to sleep in
So in this bed I’ll stay
The seagull screamed,” Get up! Get up!”
I slept, that’s how it goes.
The crows squawked insults at my sloth
But who listens to crows!
But then the wild geese called to me
And I got out of bed,
For who can sleep when spring’s first geese
Are singing in your head?!
