Secret hopes, tucked in the corners,
Duties lined up and begun.
No time for what my heart’s wanted
Until my work is all done.
But, tucked in their dusty corners,
Those hopes call me one by one
And I lay and dream about them
Until first light of the sun.
Then I rise and start all over
On duties that I’d rather shun,
But that’s what’s required of me…
So I’ll work til there are none.
