Clandestinely, she hid her tears
Where they would not be foundThe next time that the loneliness
Came sniveling around.
She tucked them in the garden beds.
She tossed them in the sea.
She stuffed them in the mossy nest
Out in the old fig tree.
She put them places that she knew
She never would recall,
For if she found them once again
She knew she’d cry them all.
You see, she had no time for tears
With all she had to face,
And so she hid them all away,
Each in a secret place.
