The gauzy curtain, wispy gray,
Blown softly, soon began to frayAnd, as the clouds slipped from the sky,
The stars rose up, hushed, swift and spry.
I sat and worked beneath starlight,
Feeling safe within the night,
Until a chill slipped up my back
As if a ghost was on my track.
I turned, and through my window pane
I saw him peering once again.
My heart beat quick, my face went red,
A thousand thoughts ran through my head.
With breathtaking audacity
The moon just grinned and winked at me!
