Sunrise in a Buttermilk Sky

Harvest Moon

Nestled snuggly in the trees
The harvest moon was hung
Balancing upon the leaves
There on the topmost rung
Where autumn breezes tickled it
With little songs they’d sung
Of days long past when that old moon
Was spry and bright and young

Cloudbreaks and Stars

The little stars are peeking out
Behind the thinning cloud,
The peek-a-boo of one or two
Becomes a buoyant crowd.
The starlight brings the night sweet joy
And lift its darkling shroud,
While laughter bubbles in my heart
And longs to burst out loud.

Anxiety and Rain

The clouds obscure the moon tonight,

Tomorrow they’ll be gone

And with them all the secret fears

That I’ve been dwelling on

Tomorrow all the clouds will pass

And with them goes the rain

A lighter sky, a lighter heart

'Til they come back again
