Global Warming Watch Continues....

Normally it would take me 15 to 20 minutes to get home from work, but tonight "Global Warming" dumped ice and snow all over the drive home and extended my trip to one hour.

The road went from bad....

To Worse....
And then to virtual white out.

And remember this picture from the morning photos ?
By this afternoon it was more like this....

And this is a tree in the neighbor's yard! For those of you not from the Pacific Northwest, we don't get much snow down here by the water's edge. This is a big pile of white in the western half of the Evergreen State! And they say that more is on the way in a couple more days!!!

Or not......

Where would you rather be this morning?

Here......

Or here?
I know my preference.....

And I know the requirments of my job.....

So I made a big pot of chili last night and hot cornbread is tucked in next to it in the carry bag. Hi Ho, Hi Ho.... it's off to work I go, with hot lunch for the three other people who need to be there today!

The Weather Outside is Frightful....

It may not look like much to you, but here in Western WA we don't get much of this stuff... well, not in the lowlands anyway!

I woke up to a thick dusting this morning,,,

But by the time I got back from work at 3:00 it was really coming down!!

So I turned on the Christmas lights, lit the candles. cause it was starting to get dark outside, and snuggled in for the night. Warm and cozy! Just me, the candlelight and the soft quiet of falling snow. Have you ever noticed how still and quiet the world becomes when it snows? It's as if the snow itself insulates the world from the noise and chaos that normally fills it..

May the quiet peace of a snowfall ease the chaos of your holidays this year. For peace is a gift from God, in whatever form it comes to us.

The Dryad and the Ocean

The dryad lingers by the shore
The salt spray in her hair
The cold waves washing round her feet
The breezes soft and fair

The quiet woods watch over her
As she lingers there
They will not stop her as she strays
Far beyond their care

They know she will not stay too long,
Windswept and solitaire,
She longs to dance out past the waves
But they know she won’t dare

For she is bound to wood and tree,
She is their lady faire,
But she can linger by the sea
And dream of dancing there.

Dawn on the Pacific

The quiet peace of morning’s pause
Before the rush of day,
The grey sky stoops to kiss her child,
Who laughs and speeds away.
Galloping from horizon’s rim
Into the frothing bay.
The perfect peace of an ocean dawn
The sea, the sky, the shore
So many waves have come to play,
Too many to keep score,
And still more come to join the fray;
To join the cheerful roar.

Then as the sun breaks through the haze
It tints the ruffled sky
And lightens each arriving wave
With silver and a sigh
The morning peace becomes the pace
Of daylight, swift and spry,
And I must be about my chores…
Not yet, but by and by!
