Frost and Mist

Day dawned shrouded in frost and mist
Ice in a heart of grey
The chill of the dawn touched my soul;
It lingered through the day.
Then twilight draped my winter world
So thick I couldn’t see
The curving road, the twinkling lights,
The long way home for me.

I stand adrift within the mist
And listen to its song
I pray that I don’t bolt in fear
And take a path that’s wrong
For I am lost, here in the dark
Within the swirling mist
I hear it whisper in my ear
Of all the turns I missed

I know that dawn will come again
And bring its shrouded light,
Yet I can't help but shiver some
Here in the misty night.
I thrust my hand out to the dark,
Defying my own fright,
And feel the grain of my front door…
I’m home, and all is right.

Dancing by the Sea

Oh come with me
Down to the sea
And dance in the laughing waves

Follow the song
Away from the throng
Down where the salt water plays

Blythe emotion
Wild the ocean
Sweet the salt waves on the shore

Bright as star foam
Call the waves home
Where the cheery breakers roar

Hear them laughing
See them splashing

Let’s learn to dance
To songs of starlight and the sea.

An inch or so, alright,
But since this is the great Northwest
It should rain by first light

It hit on Friday with the dawn
Now Sunday night is bleak.

I’m real tired of this.
This isn’t the way it’s supposed to be
And I am getting pi….. peeved!
