A Little Prayer

Then, in his joy, he paused to pray
And thank The Lord for this sweet day,
For all the blessings sent his way;
Like the soft breeze on which to play,
The blossoms where the nectar lay,
And someplace safe to hide away.
For all those things, he paused to pray,
Then flew off to enjoy the day!

Sunshine In My Heart

However grim the day may be;
There’s sunshine in my heart.
No sorrow shadows life for me,
There’s sunshine in my heart.
The squalls of life pass more quickly;
There’s sunshine in my heart.
And joy returns to set me free;
There’s sunshine in my heart.

You ask me how such joy can be,
As my world falls apart,
And I tell you, hurt heals quickly
With sunshine in your heart.

A Cold Eternity

 I wandered by the endless sea;
A cold and grim eternity
Was all that I could see for me,
As I walked by the endless sea.

I had not held my lover’s heart,
I knew I couldn’t from the start,
But faithfully I did my part
Until I lost my lover’s heart.

I offered myself in his place,
But, though I’d lived without disgrace,
Heaven required his sweet face
And would not take mine in its place.

So now I linger by the sea,
Its cold waves washing over me.
The barren shore has set me free
To seek relief within the sea.

Free To Grow

 She chose not to let life pin her,
Trap her in a net of woe.
Instead she looks out of her prison,
Continuing to fight and grow.

There is no cage that will hold her
Once she sets her heart to soar;
Though she may be trapped in brambles,
She’ll reach for freedom even more!

My Other Blogs

Please stop by and visit my other blogs sometime.  The first is Each Day A Praise. http://www.eachdayapraise.blogspot.com/   It is a reflection of my faith walk, sometimes I struggle, sometimes I rejoice, but in each day there is always something for which I can lift a praise to God. Some days we just need to know that others share the same fears and joys that touch our lives. I'd love to see you there.

I also have a blog tracking my mother's walk down the last paths of Alzheimer's. It is mostly for family and friends, to help them keep up with her care and her status, but if you are following the same path as we are, she as the patient and me as her primary caregiver, then feel free to stop by there, as well. http://alzheimerspath.blogspot.com/  We would be comforted to know that others may find a useful idea here and there to help them along that path.

Thank you, so very much, for stopping by to visit my haven, now and then. I love knowing that you've visited and I hope you enjoy your stay. There are laughter and tears a plenty in our lives and I'm grateful to have friends and visitors with whom to share them!

Of Vanity and Beauty

A silly thought occurred to me,
If I looked down, what would I see?
But such a sight, how could it be:
Perfect beauty looked back at me!!!

I couldn’t help but stop and smile;
After all, it’s been a while
Since I’d seen such good looks and style
As I saw flashing in my smile.

Why don’t you pause and take a glance
At beauty to make your heart dance
You’ll soon be dreaming of romance
And who knows… you might have a chance.

The Secret In Her Heart

She held a secret in her heart,
One that she would not share;
For sharing meant opening up
And that she did not dare.

For secrets are like treasures to
The one that holds them tight;
They are the hope of what might come
A pleasure and delight,

But, just as treasure may be lost
To thieves, stealthy and bold,
A secret is no longer safe
Once its tale has been told.

And so she clutches tightly to
The secret in her heart
And will not share it with the world
Until her petals part.
