Halloween Moon

It’s much too soon for a Halloween Moon
The year has flown by way too fast; The candles are lit to keep ghosts at bay
But how long can that really last?
Goblins and Ghoulies are out on the streets,
The spells of the night have been cast.
I hear the songs of the Halloween winds…
I’ll be glad when this night has passed!
WooooOOOoooooooOOOooooooooooooo!

A Night at the Haunted Theater

The ghosts are prowling through the halls
They’re watching in the night
They’re lurking where the curtain falls
To offer up a fright!!!
The ghostly Kinney Family.... Wait until you see Dad in tights at the Nutcracker.... now THAT's a scary thought!!!

Candle Light Vigil

The room was still as they read the psalm
The light from candle to candle leapt;
The names of the dead called, one by one.
And beside me the warrior wept.

The price of freedom is paid in lives
And redeemed in the promises kept,
Promises made to those who have died.
And beside me the warrior wept.

The friends he knew, who fought at his side,
Friends forever from his life now swept;
They’re more than names on DOD’s list.
And beside me the warrior wept.

Burned by the sun, by the sand and war,
By such things as the mind can’t accept,
He stood and shouldered the promises made
Then beside me he no longer wept.

The Season of the Rains Begins

The season of the rains begins;

The teardrops of the sky

Spill and pool on leaves and grass

As autumn stops to cry.

The rain will pass, the sun will come

The tears will start to dry

And all the little lingering drops

Will sparkle by and by.

Old Songs and Sunrises

"As the sun-flower turns on her god, when he sets,
The same look which she turned when he rose."

Dancing in the Light

I’m dancing in the light again,

The darkness is behind me.

The rhythms of life’s fear and pain

All set the beat, not bind me.

My soul is free, my heart is His;

The stars above remind me,

Though I may get lost in life’s dance,

His love will always find me.

I’m dancing in the light again,

The darkness is behind me.

Though Darkness tries to shape my life,

It’s His love that’s defined me!

My Neighbor's Dog

Sweet Ebony broke free today

She jumped the fence and broke the chain

For thirty minutes she could play

Leaping and dashing in the rain.

And now she’s back in her own yard

Safe, but shackled as normally,

But she’s still dreaming in the rain

Of that half hour she ran free!
