Isaiah 40: 26-31

I stumbled in the darkness, Lord,
I drifted from Your Grace
I called to You with all my heart
Yet turned away my face
I would not hear Your voice, My Lord,
While lost in that dark place.

A wall I built around my mind,
Each brick was filled with fear,
Frustration burned within my heart,
I would allow no cheer,
I anguished in self pity and
I let no one come near.

Last night the wall came tumbling down
It broke and fell apart
I wept until the bitter tears
Had cleansed my flame scorched heart
Then washed the darkness from my eyes
And caused the night to part.

And there before me lay the path,
As clearly marked as ever,
And still I fight to find a way
Based on my own endeavor.
Time after time You wait on me,
It seems to take forever

For me to learn that You are right
And I am just head-strong.
I haven’t got the faith I need.
Although I know it’s wrong,
I try to take the shorter way
And not the way that’s long

I know that You know what is best
And that You care for me
But as Israel and Jacob felt,
“My way, God cannot see”,
I cannot fathom Your great love
And your great faith in me.

I have to turn more closely, Lord,
To listen when You speak.
To grow more diligent in prayer,
Be humble, if not meek,
And understand that though it’s hard,
It is Your Way I seek.

For You’re the everlasting God
Creator of the earth
You call the stars, each one by name,
Contain them in Your girth,
You lift me up on eagle’s wings
For in You I have worth.

Isaiah 40: 26 - 31
26 Lift your eyes and look to the heavens:
Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one,
and calls them each by name.
Because of his great power and mighty strength,
not one of them is missing.

27 Why do you say, O Jacob,
and complain, O Israel,
"My way is hidden from the LORD;
my cause is disregarded by my God"?

28 Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.

29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.

30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;

31 but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

Anxious

Dreams, scattered by the winds of fear,
Tatter and tear within my trembling heart.
I know that this storm too will pass…

But by then I fear I’ll be torn apart.

He Calls Them Each By Name

I sit beneath the endless stars
And count the ones that fall.
(I count just those that cross my gaze;
I cannot see them all.)
I try to name the ones I know,
But that list is so small.
Some of their names I never knew
And some I can’t recall;
Yet here I sit for half the night
With heart and mind in thrall.

You set their number in the sky,
You call them each by name,
You lit the fire that burns within
Each distant, dancing flame.
And though, to me, they all appear
As if they look the same
You gave each one a different voice
Your glory to proclaim!

He determines the number of the stars
and calls them each by name.

Some Color and Characters from this Weekend

Honeysuckle doing what honeysuckle does best... climbing the lattice

Columbines
Roses in Pink:
And in deeper pink:
Daisies:

Some interesting locals:
Just as I started to click I heard the deep buzz of a hummer passing by my ear and into the middle of this honeysuckle cluster. Enlarge the photo and look for the blur... do you see it?

And this is the woodpecker who tried to pound his way through two of the neighbors' rooftops... both made of concrete tile!
And this Stellar's Jay really wanted those peanuts, but he just wouldn't come get them while I was waiting around with a camera...
And guess who showed up this weekend in all his Glory?!!!
The wind picked up as the sun was heading down. I caught this as the night lighting came up.
And the moon was hanging around watching it all..

Starlight Longing

Mystical moments that merge with the night
The croaking of frogs in the soft twilight
The drowsy drift of the tide on the shore
The whispered voice through the open door
The happy moon on a stroll through the sky
The rustle of grass where the breeze slipped by
The absolute stillness of infinite light
Dancing out past the far edge of the night
The myriad stars that spill through the sky
Find their reflection in my upturned eye.
