Oh What a Glorious Day!!!

I woke up in pain today,
I’m out of my Flonase,
And I think I’m allergic to
Everything on this place!

Except the sunshine on the trees
The breeze that sweeps the grass
The sparkle on the water’s face
And on the window glass

Nor all the birds that swim or sing
Not even the bold gulls
And maybe not the drowsy sun
That soothes the heart and lulls

This is a perfect autumn day
A summer memory
And I intend to treasure it
Not sit in misery

So out the door, into the day,
With camera in tow
I don’t recall the morning’s pain
And life calls me to go!!!

Night Training

Too late tonight to frame a thought
To speak the silent word
The birds have settled in the trees
And not a song is heard
The moon is bright, the air is cold
A perfect night to train…
The distant boom of cannon fire
Rattles my window pane.

And you may call them what you wish,
You've said some awful things,
But to my mind they’ll always be
Angels with camo wings!

Autumn Murmurs

Just a passing word of praise
For the crisp, cool autumn days,
For the ripened apple sprays,
For the misty, morning haze,
For the festive cornstalk maze,
For the evening’s frosty glaze,
For the cheery fire’s blaze,
For the harvest holidays;
For all of autumn let me raise
Just a passing word of praise

A Day without Trees is a Day... in Someone Else's Life!

Tangled roots and tangled dreams
Tangled light and shade
Nothing's ever what it seems
Where the Dryad's strayed

Tangled roots and tangled dreams
Leaf clogged forest springs
Nothing's ever what it seems
Where the Dryad sings

A Tale of Adventure

Once upon a time there were two beautiful princesses and a galant knight! They set out on a bold adventure at the Ren Fest.... Prepared for anything!!!

Like fearsome Ogres, held at bay by a trusty blade!!!
Or Pirates that made them walk the plank!!!

Or even beautiful faeries that sprinkled them with magic dust and gave them powerful Dragon's tears to protect them from the other wicked creatures that roamed the Fest!!

Of course there was always a handy servant around to help with little things like a good seat for the joust....
But at the end of the day, it was up to our intrepid band to take care of each other.... and that did! All the way home!!!

Holding on to My World

I had to stand out in the night
And listen to the stars,
And to the water pooling in
The concrete’s cracks and scars,
And to the creaking of the leaves
That shrivel on the vine.
I had to stand out in the night
And listen to what’s mine.

So much that roars in light of day
Goes silent in the night,
The greatest worries nestle down,
The anguishes take flight,
Tomorrow’s cares still have no voice,
Their faces I can’t see.
There in the dark in my back yard
There’s only peace and me.

I've missed you!

I'm sorry to have been so long
away from muse and blog,
but life has kept me on the run.
It's been a weary slog.
Worry, work and much to do
have kept me gone too long,
but now I'm back and with me comes
many a brand new song!!!

So cozy up and settle in,
grab a cup of tea.
Let's spend some time in catching up...
just you, my dear, and me!!

Listening for His Voice

God whispers in my ear at night
Right at the edge of sleep
It’s the time my mind is still
Enough to hear Him speak

He answers prayers I prayed that night
Or worries that I clutch,
And sometimes He just whispers words
Of love and strength and such

Sometimes I even catch a note
Of humor in His voice.
I’m grateful that He found a time
Without the background noise.

Please don’t tell anyone this tale,
They’ll think it’s too absurd,
But God speaks to me in the night
And I linger in His Word.

And here comes Autumn, right on time!!!

Autumn dropped by my street this week
I fear the summer’s gone
The wind is rattling the eaves,
Singing an eerie song.
The clouds are scuttling cross the moon,
The stars won’t show their face,
While brokenhearted leaves rip loose
And scatter round the place.

There’s something in the autumn mist
That fills my heart with dread
I feel the need to snuggle down
And spend the day in bed.
But I have things I need to do,
And places I must go,
So I will brave the wet and wild…
Thank God it isn’t snow!!!!

Missing You

Somehow I’m missing you tonight
And I don’t know your name,
But there’s a sense of emptiness
That lingers just the same.

The lonely wind, the listless rain
The chill that fills the air
Remind me that we’ve never met
And yet I know you’re there.

Maybe someday we’ll chance to meet,
Or maybe just pass by,
But here, tonight, I feel a void
And I’m not quite sure why…..
