Waiting For Dusk

The sky is blue, daubed with white clouds.
The inlet reflects its face.
Wind chimes are dancing to a tune
That I cannot quite place.
The dusk is not yet on the land,
But it is drawing nigh,
And I can sense the coming night
In the still, crystal sky.
There was too little time today
To get done all I should,
But I worked diligently to
Do everything I could.
Lord, I am grateful for the Grace
That kept me safe today,
But I am more grateful for this,
The peace You've sent my way.
I'll sit and listen to the day
Sing its last cheery song,
Waiting for the quiet of night
To finally come along.
I see You in the morning light,
In the bright, golden sun,
But I can hear You speak to me
Most clearly when day's done.
So I will savor this day's end,
The breeze, water and sky,
Until the darkness falls again
And it's just You and I.
