Waiting For Dusk

The sky is blue, daubed with white clouds.
The inlet reflects its face.
Wind chimes are dancing to a tune
That I cannot quite place.
The dusk is not yet on the land,
But it is drawing nigh,
And I can sense the coming night
In the still, crystal sky.
There was too little time today
To get done all I should,
But I worked diligently to
Do everything I could.
Lord, I am grateful for the Grace
That kept me safe today,
But I am more grateful for this,
The peace You've sent my way.
I'll sit and listen to the day
Sing its last cheery song,
Waiting for the quiet of night
To finally come along.
I see You in the morning light,
In the bright, golden sun,
But I can hear You speak to me
Most clearly when day's done.
So I will savor this day's end,
The breeze, water and sky,
Until the darkness falls again
And it's just You and I.

Calling To Me

I heard it whispering to me
Throughout my busy day.
But I could never hear clearly
Just what it tried to say.

I heard it calling out to me

In words I could not hear.
Seeming all day to draw closer,
Yet never get too near.

I looked for it as morning dawned

And when noon’s light drew nigh.
It seemed I heard it everywhere,
But it escaped my eye.

Then just before the falling dusk

Turned my day into night,
I finally found it, hidden there,
Within the evening’s light.

It took a moment to sink in,

I’d sought it for so long.
The peace that had been calling me
Was right there, all along.

May Peace Hold You

May peace hold you close every night,
And joy greet you each dawn.
May you have enough love each day
That you can carry on.
May you have faith that still beats strong,
At the end of each gale,
And, by that faith, praise Him with joy
Who brought you through travail.
May you have work to keep you fed
And may you understand
The love so great that He's engraved
Your name upon His hand.
May peace hold you close every night,
And joy greet you each dawn.
May you have enough love each day
That you can carry on.
