Too quickly summer passed away
And Autumn’s here again.
The sun is sulking in the clouds;
The rains will soon begin.

Far From Home
The breeze is dancing through the trees
To the soft humming of the bees,
The fragrance of the summer blooms
Is spilling through the sunlit rooms,
And satin waves brush down the shore
While laughter settles by the door.
My heart still lingers by the sea;
There my love sings a melody
And longs to hold me tenderly
When I return across the sea.
To the soft humming of the bees,
The fragrance of the summer blooms
Is spilling through the sunlit rooms,
And satin waves brush down the shore
While laughter settles by the door.
My heart still lingers by the sea;
There my love sings a melody
And longs to hold me tenderly
When I return across the sea.
Reflections
The sunlight lingers in my dreams
And rainbows in my tears;
My joy is not all that it seems
But neither are my fears.

Broken Wings
The sunshine traced my broken wings
Beneath the summer sky;
I may never be whole again,
But, with Him, I can fly.
Beneath the summer sky;
I may never be whole again,
But, with Him, I can fly.

The Last Roll Call
Tears trickled softly from the clouds,
Down the face of the sky
They spilled into my empty heart
And welled up in my eye
Too many tears fall in the night
Too many tears I’ve cried
Too many tears for each young man
Who lived and fought and died
I stood beside their empty boots
Beneath a tear streaked sky
And when no voice answered the roll
All I could do was cry.
To the ten young men who left Ft Lewis a month and a half ago and have come home too soon. Buffaloes!
Down the face of the sky
They spilled into my empty heart
And welled up in my eye
Too many tears fall in the night
Too many tears I’ve cried
Too many tears for each young man
Who lived and fought and died
I stood beside their empty boots
Beneath a tear streaked sky
And when no voice answered the roll
All I could do was cry.
To the ten young men who left Ft Lewis a month and a half ago and have come home too soon. Buffaloes!

September 11, 2009 on Mt Rainier
Two shots of the Moon over the mountain....
Mt Rainier has a little brother.... Meet Mt Adams! Next mountain south is St Helens

First Morning of the Weekend...
The morning dawned misty and pink
Then it turned golden and filmyThen the haze burned off and the sun burned silver in the morning sky!

Sulking
I hear the whispers in the night,
They tickle at my ear;
The little stars, in their delight,
Mock me with their cheer
While in its joy, the gibbous moon,
Smiles at every jibe.
So I suspect I’ll give in soon
And join the cheery tribe!

My Cup Runneth Over
Fill me with your Love, Oh Lord,
And let it then spill forth,
For I am but a conduit
While You're the Endless Source.
And let it then spill forth,
For I am but a conduit
While You're the Endless Source.

Tears and Rain
The world lies heavy on my heart
And heavy are the chains
That bind this blithe and cheerful heart
To all its woes and pains.
But I have spilt all of the tears
That I can spill today,
And I shall leave them where they fell,
Turn and walk away
From sorrows that I cannot cure
From fears I can’t allay,
And grant my heart permission to
Remember joy today!
And heavy are the chains
That bind this blithe and cheerful heart
To all its woes and pains.
But I have spilt all of the tears
That I can spill today,
And I shall leave them where they fell,
Turn and walk away
From sorrows that I cannot cure
From fears I can’t allay,
And grant my heart permission to
Remember joy today!

Updated Post
We've lost 3 more of our brave soldiers from the 1/17. The funerals for the first two are today. They've had boots on the ground for less than a month and IEDs have claimed 9 already. I've updated the original post with the new names. Please pray for them and their families.
