The quiet peace of morning’s pause
Before the rush of day,
The grey sky stoops to kiss her child,
Who laughs and speeds away.
Galloping from horizon’s rim
Into the frothing bay.
The perfect peace of an ocean dawn
The sea, the sky, the shore
So many waves have come to play,
Too many to keep score,
And still more come to join the fray;
To join the cheerful roar.
Then as the sun breaks through the haze
It tints the ruffled sky
And lightens each arriving wave
With silver and a sigh
The morning peace becomes the pace
Of daylight, swift and spry,
And I must be about my chores…
Not yet, but by and by!
