The Unexpected Miracle

The little miracles of life,

Those most unexpected,

The ones that come out of the blue,

Those must be God directed.

The mist that slips out of the bay,

Silent, undetected;

Wild geese winging through the dawn,

In glass-like waves reflected;

The dying spark, its flame near quenched,

Redeemed and resurrected.

We almost lost Popsi today, but he’s fighting back and holding his own. It’s brutal and excruciating, but he's not one to give up.

Misty Monday Morning

Monday morning wrapped in mist,
Outside and in my heart;
I simply cannot shake these tears,
I don't know where to start.
There is no sunshine in my world,
Just mist and tears and pain,
And I am starting to believe,
It won't come back again.
(Okay, so there is a little sun on the slate for Tuesday & glorious sun for Wednesday, but that insight ruins the sense of self pity I was going for! LOL)

Living on the Edge of the World

I’m living on the edge of the world
Beyond my deck the silence is unfurled
Neither dark nor light, endless, whirling white
I’m living on the edge of the world

I’m living where the world comes to an end
Where even silence whispers to the wind
The gull’s muffled cry lost beneath the sky
I’m living where the world comes to an end

I’m living where tomorrow drifts away
In pursuit of what was lost today
What was there last night, gone before first light
I’m living where tomorrow drifts away

I’m living on the edge of the world
Off of my back deck it all is swirled
Mist wrapped up the day, carried it away
I’m living on the edge of the world

Passing Through the Night

The quiet moments of panic,
The tears you weep inside,
The hurts you bury deeply,
The fears you have to hide,
All the things that crush your dreams
Or drag you to your knees -
Just lift them up into His care,
Let Him attend to these.
Stand up and keep on fighting,
Keep walking in His Light,
The way is long and difficult,
But leads you past the night.

Longing for Peace

Where is the silence of the wood;

The sunlight on the leaf,

The cool, damp moss draped on the rock

In shadow’s deep relief.

I cannot reach that silent place

Where light and shadow play

Beneath the sun flecked evergreens;

It’s all too far away,

But I can reach back in my mind

To find that memory,

And I can almost smell the moss

That grows beside that tree

While sunlight plays across the leaves

And peace wells up in me.
