How dark’s the despair in your heart
How deep and eternal the grief?
Is there hope that joy might return
Or is hope beyond all belief?
Can you pull your heart from the brink,
Or has it been lost to the dark?
Is the fire that burned, burned out,
Or is there still some little spark?

The Sunlight and The Storm

The sunlight brushed the swallow’s wing
It flecked the dappled foam
It fluttered like a butterfly
Around my quiet home
And then the clouds rolled back again
And chased the sun away
The bully with the big loud voice
That thundered through my day.
It flecked the dappled foam
It fluttered like a butterfly
Around my quiet home
And then the clouds rolled back again
And chased the sun away
The bully with the big loud voice
That thundered through my day.

Wake Up Call
The sun tapped on my bedroom sill,"Get up, the day’s begun!"
But I rolled over in my bed
And just ignored the sun.
The swallows chirped on my back rail,
"Come out, come out and play!"
But this is my day to sleep in
So in this bed I’ll stay
The seagull screamed,” Get up! Get up!”
I slept, that’s how it goes.
The crows squawked insults at my sloth
But who listens to crows!
But then the wild geese called to me
And I got out of bed,
For who can sleep when spring’s first geese
Are singing in your head?!

Reflections

And then the sun burst through the cloud
And saw its face anew
The cloud turned to the darkened pool
Then as the darkness grew
The cloud turned to the darkened pool
And saw its face anew
And then the sun burst through the cloud
And saw its face anew
The cloud turned to the darkened pool
Then as the darkness grew
The cloud turned to the darkened pool
And saw its face anew
And then the sun burst through the cloud

To Carry On
So many little memoriesAre flooding through my mind;
The strength you shared, the love you gave,
The values you defined.
I still cannot believe you’re gone
Though my hand touches stone.
My heart’s a hole filled up with tears
Where sorrow dwells alone.
But I must rise and keep in faith
The promise that I gave
To guard, with care, your fragile heart
And not your silent grave.

Why Do Eagles Ignore Seagulls
Because they can....
If you enlarge the photos you can see the seagulls beaks are open and screaming....
