Chatting with the Sun
Just before the clouds consumed him,
The sun winked down at me.
“I’ll be right back”, I heard him say,
“Just you wait there and see.”
So I sat down, beneath the shade,
To watch the clouds roll by,
For, though the rain may wash its face,
The sun still rules the sky!

I Hate That Feeling....
Something lingers in my mind,
A problem I forgot.
I feel it loom ominously
And I just don't know what,
But time will show it to me,
Though I like it or not,
I feel its breath down my neck...
It’s getting way too hot.

In Dark Times
All the burdens that you bear
Are weighing on my heart.
I know that I can’t make things right
And that tears me apart.
I watch you stand beneath the weight
Of all that you now face;
You never show how much you hurt
Beneath that quiet grace.
Just know that, in these darker days,
When worries never end,
You’re not alone, I’m right near by;
I’ll always be your friend.

Morning Blossom
Shy as the morning
In the early spring
Washed in the magic
That new warmth will bring
Proving the promise
That life is reborn
In the chill sunlight
A blossom of morn

Jeanie Hendry
You always read my blogs each day. I had to send you little notes to tell you not to worry if a poem was sad because you would call or write to check on me if I did not. You would send me little notes to share an article you'd found or a memory of someone we knew, a place that we had been. You always finished with "Love Aye". I will miss those notes, but I know that I don't have to miss your love. That you gave to me forever. Love Aye, Jeanie. Love Aye.
I knew this day was coming on,
I knew that you would go
But still I cannot stop the tears,
Or even slow their flow.
I know that you are in His arms
And all your pain is gone.
I also know that you expect
That we will carry on.
The place in my heart where you lived
Will echo for a while,
But it will warm with happiness
Remembering your smile.
So I will weep while I rejoice,
That you live in His Grace.
And I know your love lives in me
For each tear bears its trace.

New Joy Blossoms
The dryad watched the tumbled clouds
Weep tears across the sky,
While she lay where last autumn’s leaves
Had crumbled down to die.
Her broken heart poured tears of pain
Out of her weary eye
And, though she told herself to stop,
She couldn’t help but cry.
Yet, finally her grief was stilled,
Her tears, at last, ran dry,
Then, with new hope, she spread her arms
And joy lit up the sky!

Dreaming in Pastels
The pastel shades of morning's light
Washed through the cloudy sky
And nestled up against the shore
That she was sleeping by.
She called the waves to come to her,
Caressed their silken bands,
And all the colors of the sky
Spilled through her sleepy hands.

Get Up and Dance
When the world tries to drag me down,
I just get up and dance.
It may not make things easier
But I still take that chance.

The Crossroad
I see the footprints of all those
Who passed this way before.
I cannot follow where they’ve gone,
And they’ll come by no more,
For I am standing at the place
Where choices must be made,
And with each choice there’s consequence,
A price that must be paid.
There is no way of going back
And I fear moving on,
For once I’m set upon this path
All other choice is gone.
So, I will linger here a while,
Where many feet have trod.
I will pray for guidance toward
The path that leads to God.

What Will Be Left
What will you leave behind you
When you walk here no more?
Will the world recall your name
When you pass through death’s door?
Will your deeds resound through time
Though your bones fall to dust?
Will you leave a legacy
Of truth or of mistrust?
Will you ripple in life’s pond
When your stone has been cast?
Will you fade from history
When your season has passed?
The time you have to make your mark
Is passing as you gaze,
Choose well the tales that will be told
Recalling your swift days,
For clouds of doom are gathering
Across tomorrow’s sky.
Be sure you’ve left what you deem best
When your time has passed by.
