The Healing Place

I wandered down beside the pond
Where reedy grasses sway,
Beside the silent ripples born
Of summer’s ducks at play.

The sun brushed silently the boughs
Of nearby alder trees,
Then listened as they whispered back
Upon the cheery breeze.

I stood within the peaceful calm;
I felt it touch my soul.
It seeped into my weary brain
And left me healed and whole.

And as I stood within that calm,
I heard the voice in gentle speak
It brought me such a healing balm
My weary brain cries no more.
