Going Green

I know, you'd never have thought it
You wonder, "What can it all mean?"
I've finally found a real reason
that compels me now to go Green.

The world is changing around me
and all of the things that I've seen
have shown me proof I was lacking.
So, I humbly admit that I'm Green

I stand here a true believer
in courage that's but rarely seen
to stand and defy the edict
That call's for the death of "The Green"

No! No! Please don't be mistaken,
Al Gore, to me, still seems obscene,
I stand with Freedom from Tyrants
In Iran, where the streets run Green!

Little Dreams

The little dreams of yesterday
still linger in my mind
and, while they haven't been fulfilled,
they're not all left behind.
I keep them someplace near and dear
that only I can find...
They're tucked into my prayers each night
and round my heart entwined.

There is Something Better than "Hope and Change"

A moment of silence
while all the world burns
Korea is seething
while Iran's fate still churns;
The greatest republic
that this earth has produced
farms out it's commitments.
as the Uighurs are loosed.
Economies crumble
while our leadership plays
at golfing and travel
and New York getaways.
They dance around trouble,
they grow debts they won't pay,
as in Nero's fires
The world burns as they play.

Patricia Dillon

April 10, 1959 - April 21, 2009

Wife, Mother, Teacher and Friend
Joyful, loving and strong. More willing to give of herself than to take for herself. She will be more than missed, she leaves a gaping hole in the center of our world.

The sun went dark the day I heard
That you had left this earth
Too soon you left your heart's true love
And those whom you gave birth

You fought the darkness. Darkness won;
Now all the world’s gone dim,
And what was once a place of joy
Is bitter now and grim

Yet in the tears that pool around
The fragments of my heart
I see reflections of your smile
And feel the healing start

I see your face in those you left
To carry on your dreams
For much of you still lives in them,
The best of you, it seems.

And they will grow to be like you,
To do what you’d have done,
Perhaps the darkness didn’t win
For your love carries on.

Bloom and Grow, Bloom and Grow

Tired of flowers yet? I hope not, because here's your bouquet for the week.

Fun With Figs

Okay, no real point in this post, but I liked the combination of leaves, figs and shades of green!
