Thriving Outside the Box

Sometimes we live outside the box,
That’s how a garden grows.
Sometimes we live outside the fence,
Beyond the sculpted rows.
Sometimes we live where we should not,
Out where the rough wind blows,
Sometimes the place our lives take root
Is not the one we chose.

But still we live outside the box,
Beyond the garden fence,
And still we bloom and flourish there
Without all the pretense.
We grow and thrive where we take root,
Despite all common sense,
Because the garden is so small
And life is so immense.
